I am an Australian-born, British artist, currently living and working in Birmingham, UK.

My studio practice is multi-disciplinary and multi-personae.

As Maxx Gentleman, I perform and play music; as The New Happiness I curate exhibitions; within newnewmoon I create site responsive work within a collective and my solo practice navigates personal histories and recreating formative events.

The use of separate personae allows me to respond to making work from a range of different perspectives, without feeling the need to explicitly connect the practices together.

I'm especially interested in story-telling processes: colour, pattern, music and movement conveying a thread of  someone else's experiences.

Currently, I'm working on a series of text-based paintings and short anecdotes that address how memory and experience directly relate to our own perspectives of trust/ violence/ safety and attachment.
