Year 6 Fashion Project

This project was an extension of a lesson I taught when these kids were in Yr 5. I created a 3 part lesson where the kids needed to plan and construct a wearable sculpture based on a famous building from around the world. I showed them pictures from the famous 1930's Bauhaus parties in New York as well as local fashion designer Bruce Asbestos from Nottingham.

The lesson was incredibly fun, with the kids engaging with loads of different problem solving techniques and new skills.

We had a whole school exhibition and I showed a video of the kids walking a runway, which was then seen by Andrew Fox at BEP, who invited me to re create it with a smaller number of outfits and he would showcase the results at a D&T conference here in the UK. The images here are of this more polished version of the lesson. We had approx 20 kids working during our lunch times for a few months to create these spectacular garments!
